Meet the Person Behind
SmartKoreaGuide

I came to South Korea from Kenya as a university student, with one suitcase and zero idea of what I was getting myself into. That was 16 years ago. What was supposed to be a one-year adventure turned into a marriage, a family, a home, and a life I wouldn't trade for anything.

Over the years, I've navigated every bureaucratic maze Korea has to offer — visa renewals, apartment hunting in a language I barely spoke, raising two children in the Korean school system, stretching a budget through economic ups and downs, and building a genuine community far from my roots.

"Living abroad isn't just about surviving the paperwork and the culture shock. It's about finding your rhythm, your community, your version of home — and then sharing the map with the next person who arrives."

SmartKoreaGuide is that map. Every guide I write is rooted in real experience — no fluff, no generic advice, no content written by someone who visited for a week.
